Orchard of Olives, Cherries & Grapes in the Nuy Valley

Kielder Agro Group South Africa operates a 364-hectare property in the Western Cape focused on high-value horticulture including olives, export-grade cherries, and premium white wine grapes. Leveraging advanced irrigation infrastructure and regenerative practices, the farm combines sustainability, innovation, and rural development. Seven olive cultivars are grown for extra virgin oil; early-maturing cherry varieties are cultivated under netting for export; and Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc are produced using precision trellising systems.

An in-house nursery supports propagation for both internal use and external growers, enhancing resilience and scalability. The farm employs a drip irrigation system fed by a 1,050,000 m³ dam with year-round water rights. Sustainability efforts include composting, mulching, organic pest control, and soil health monitoring. With 21 permanent and up to 300 seasonal workers, Kielder supports local employment, education, and training. Future plans focus on expanding cherry production to 60 hectares, increasing olive oil exports to Europe and North America, and testing new high-demand, climate-resilient crops.
